right then, watching her walk away, i knew that i would never see her again. all of the words had been spoken, but nothing had been said. her lip-gloss still greased my lips from a half-hearted last kiss goodbye, and i could still smell her perfume on the upholstery of my car. i loved her perfume. it was the first thing that i had noticed about her, the way she smelled. she always smelled good. i would be far away sometimes, doing some business or another, and walk past a girl wearing the same perfume and i would think of her and smile, thinking of how that scent hung heavy and sweet in the air on long distracting nights. nights in her bed or in mine that somehow turned into late nights and then into mornings. but those nights will be gone forever now. the times that we shared will fade into the past and soon i will forget the way that she used to laugh when i fell down, or how she looked at me, or how we would sit and watch nothing on TV for hours, and be happy. the happiness was collapsed from underneath us by the distance. the distance began showing itself a few months ago and had been increasing everyday since. we both noticed it but neither of us wanted to recognize or admit that it was there. i don't know where it came from, and i don't think that she did either. maybe she worked too hard or maybe i was emotionally immature. in the end i don't think that it was either, and i doesn't matter. the distance grew like the cancer that attacked and eventually overtook the lives of three of my grandparents. the distance grew until it was impossible for us to continue looking at each other and crack a weary smile and pretend that everything was fine. the distance grew until it cornered us, here in my car, in the parking lot of a movie theater. we had nowhere left to run and had to face the music. we promised each other that it was no one else's fault, that we cared for one another, that we would still be friends, tying up the loose ends of two guilty consciences. i was sure that we would talk on the phone a few times, maybe a couple of e-mails, but i would never again hold her hand in a movie theater or kiss her outside of a restaurant. all doors close behind you. i think that i will always remember the way that she smelled.

::In a parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and I've been here since five forty-five::

so last nite i went and picked up nikkichikki after i watched an hour and a half of bowling videos... and we went to go see xbreakmyheartx at SPU... the three of us and KT's roommates, rachel and sarah, went to Richard's Drive-in and KT had food and i had a milk shake... so after that we dropped sarah off and we went to the seattle center... nikki and KT talked about noah and kirk the whole damn time and rachel and i just walked around EMP just getting to know each other... it was really awesome... i really don't think that she belongs at that school... she said that it was good to talk to someone who won't think badly of her, her friends or the fact that she's not the most devout christian there... so we sat under the glow of the EMP reader board and just talked... i think it was really hard for her to answer some of the questions that i was asking her but i feel privileged to know the things i do... i had a real good time...

but about the heading... when rachel and i were walking around, there were a whole gang of people dressed up in star trek garbs... we laughed at them and proceeded to walk by them so they would talk to us... but they were full on star trek junkies... they had the little swords and everyting... i guess that there is a new series that started and they watched it at EMP... that'd be rad to get to watch one of my favorite shows at EMP... like Temptation Island... YAAAH!!! anyway... i'll catch ya on the flip side...

ellen i hope things are going okay for you...

::In a parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and i've been here since five forty-five::

<lj:music>Orgy "Vapor Transmission" YA I LISTEN TO ORGY, SO WHAT?</lj:music>

not that i necessarily believe in karma, but it just sort of seemed to fit... so finally after the entire year of 2001 being crappy, today made it seem like it never happened... i woke up and my back didn't hurt (it hurts constantly because of sleeping on chris's couch for two straight months last fall), i got up and ate some cereal, and nikki called me... she was all excited and told me about a conversation that she had had with KT last nite on the internet... it involved KT's roommate mentioning something to her about me being cute or something to that effect... this made me a very happy boy... after nikki and i were done talking, the phone rang immediately and it was a lady offering me an interview, i was so amped... so i went and had the interview at 12:30 and got the job!!! so extremely excited... i went to my mom's work and told her... she was really excited because it's taken me so long to find a damn job... the entire year i've had really bad luck in the "employment market"... and i also gloated to her about the girl... she seemed happy for the first time in a long time... that made me feel really good... me and my mom always have had a good relationship, but lately it's been real crappy because she's worried about me or whatever... which is understandable, but then all of a sudden i become a teenager again and get all defensive and get all pissed off at her just for being my mom... see i know it's ridiculous but then again i can't help it... so anyway then i went and met up with the boys and we went and took everything to curtis high school for the dance that we're playing tomorrow and i say we because i am playing... E-Rock has to work so i learned all the songs and am playing with them tomorrow... i'm so AMPED!!! then we went to sluggo and randy bought some microphones, and we went to travis' for his birthday party, we had nachos and pumpkin bars... and watched old live performances of weezer, jimmy eat world, and a few other bands... and i saw the get up kids "action to action" video it's so amazing... and i also called the bowling alley to see why i couldn't get a hold of the guy yesterday and i set up an interview tomorrow... so all and all today was an awesome day...

::In a parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and i've been here since five forty-five::

I know this is long but take the time to read it it gives you a new perspective...

This, from a Canadian newspaper, and it's worth sharing.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given
recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from
Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
Commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

America: The Good Neighbor.

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany,
Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy
were lifted out of the debris of war by the
Americans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts.

None of these countries is today paying even the
interest on its remaining debts to the United
States. When France was in danger of collapsing in
1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and
their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the
streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the
United States that hurries in to help. This spring,
59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman
Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged
countries. Now newspapers in those countries are
writing about the decadent, war mongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is
gloating over the erosion of the United States
dollar build its own airplane. Does any other
country in the world have a plane to equal the
Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the
Douglas DC10?

If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the
International lines except Russia fly American
Planes? Why does no other land on earth even
consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You
talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios.
You talk about German technocracy, and you get
automobiles. You talk about American technocracy,
and you find men on the moon - not once, but several
times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put
theirs right in the store window for everybody to
look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued
and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most
of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are
getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to
spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were
breaking down through age, it was the Americans who
rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the
New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced
to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name
me even one time when someone else raced to the
Americans in trouble? I don't think there was
outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing
with their flag high. And when they do, they are
entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are
gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada
is not one of those."

Stand proud, America! Wear it proudly!!

<lj:music>The End: Cake "Short Skirt, Long Jacket"</lj:music>

so i went to the ocean with my dad over labor day weekend... it was cool.. i hadn't seen any of that side of the family in ten years... all these cousins that i didn't even remember i had... it was cool... i ate so much food... it was awesome... we went mini golfing, bowling, had two bonfires, and i got to watch everyone get drunk... i met some pretty rad people too... so after i got back i went to nikki's and she said the NEC kids had a show so i got a hold of them and we went to the mall before we went to the show... and i asked them if they promoted it at all.. and they were like... nah...i doubt anyone's gonna be there... and as we pull up there were girls to be seen for miles... even, christian, and i started yelling and stuff and i looked back to the car behind us and saw eric... haha... his eyes were all big it was funny... so they played first and totally rocked despite a few tech problems... they debuted a new song too... it was cool... but that is my last few days in a nutshell despite people not caring about other's feelings and breaking promises it's been a good time...

::In a parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and I've been here since five forty-five::

    <lj:music>The Wonder Years</lj:music>

well i haven't posted in a long damn time... because my roommate didn't pay the phone bill, in turn no internet... so i can't even remember the last time i posted... but in that time, NEC had their CD release show... it was so awesome... they blew everyone else away... Friday Randy, Eric, Evan, Christian, Travis and I went and saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back... I thought it was rad!! everyone else didn't seem to like it that much... but i was just dying... then on saturday our new band played IMPACT... it was so much fun... Nikki let us practice at her house and she made us food too... it was sweet of her... the name of the band is Box Full Of Trophies, i got the idea from the nada surf album High/Low... so our set list consisted of weezer, acceptance, ataris, modern english, and saves the day, we also played an old Express song and an original song too... it was such a blast... being up on stage again it felt so good... anyway... then on sunday i went out and painted the house, and my mom gave me a hair cut... then i went and met Rachelle and Becky at Denny's and we went and saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.. ya i know.. twice in three days... but it's an awesome movie... and then monday, after a trying to find a job, i drove down to Salem to see Ellen... we hung out at sara's house and we went to a park and stuff it was cool... then we went and saw Summer Catch... it was pretty good, but very typical teen flick... oh well... so i am presently in salem hanging out eatting eggo waffles and watching the wonder years... but i am moving in to my house as soon as i get home... that's kind of exciting... but i need to go now and stop rambling... good bye kids...

::In a Parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and i've been here since five forty-five:

The Vagrant Across America Tour was on Tuesday in seattle... i got to see cody and katherine finally... katherine and nikki made up... i so knew that was coming... anyways Hey Mercedes! was rad... they are former members of Braid, Hotrod Circuit never ceases to amaze me... they're new material is extremely good and i can't wait for they're new album... dashboard's set was great as well i only cried twice this time, heh... and then saves the day took the stage... they're set went: "Holly Hox, Forget Me Nots" "Through Being Cool" "Allstar Me" "Cars and Calories" "Jessie and My Whetstone" "Shoulder To The Wheel" "The Choke" "Certain Tragedy" "At Your Funeral" "The Last Lie I Told" "Freakish" "Jukebox Breakdown" "Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off To Heaven" "Always Ten Feet Tall" "All I'm Losing Is Me" "Rocks, Tonic, Juice, Magic" and their encore was "As Your Ghost Takes Flight" "My Sweet Fracture" it was one of the best live performances i've ever witnessed... i thanked Chris Conley after the show, and he asked why i thanked him... and i told him for making me the person i am today, he looked me in the eye and said that a lot of people compliment him but not many people are as sincere about it as i was... that made me feel really good... then christian and i talked to him about music and told him how great the new album was... he said that it was great to hear feedback because he never really gets that... we went on and on about how good "This Is Not An Exit" was and he is going to add it to their set list on the next tour... so after we left nikki and i went to ashley's house to meet ashley, holly, heather, katie with the broken down car, and some kids that nikki met at TOMFest... we had a sleep over it was a lot of fun but i was way tired so i went to bed early... then the next day we woke up and had breakfast and talked about music and the TOMFest kids left for home, and holly and heather had to go home all abruptly cause her mom called... and then we left for portland about 3:00 but i'll go into that in the next post...

::In a parking lot, by myself, it's quarter to nine and i've been here since five forty-five::
